Beautiful Trauma Tour

Valley View Casino Center - San Diego

In a time when women are somehow still left searching for social validation and acceptance, P!ink masterfully delivers a powerful message of resilience, unity and self acceptance equally capable of inspiring and entertaining the audience.

While throughout the years P!ink has become a strong  advocate for women’s rights and an empowering voice for young girls, she certainly has redefined live entertainment expectations,  delivering the perfect larger than life spectacle that keeps you mesmerized from opening to end and simply cannot be outdone.

The show started with a high note with “Get The Party Started” during which , backed by a six person band, she appeared on stage swinging off a chandelier, twisting and turning, hanging upside down while delivering perfect vocals and of course getting the crowd fully warmed up.

She transitioned into “Beautiful Trauma” the self title track from her latest chart topping release, during which she is able to show off her vocal range while enjoying the word by word singalong from the crowd that was impossible to overlook and seemed to reiterate how down to earth and relatable this songs truly is.

The crowd erupted in cheers as she brought us back to “M!ssundaztood “ one more time  with “Just Like a Pill”.

The night took a more light hearted and comical turn with the performance of the song

“Revenge” during which P!nk battles a giant inflatable Eminem on stage.

And then it was back to the 90’s….

First with her cover of No Doubt’s “Just A Girl” which she delivered perfectly with the right balance of sass and spark, as if the song was her own.

And then she did something I never thought I would be able to appreciate..

She covered what is ultimately the most iconic song of the 90’s and potentially ever (keep in mind I am a 90’s child so I am biased)-

I never thought I could listen to any artist cover Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” without cringing or even walking away before the cover ended because that song is synonymous with Kurt Cobain and his voice which is nothing short of epic and not easily replaced.

But what can I say beside I was completely mind blown, she delivered a beautiful homage to such an iconic song and the video footage of Nirvana playing on the screen brought me to tears and luckily I was not the only one screaming my lungs out and simultaneously wiping my eyes.

P!nk was up in the air again during “Give Me A Reason” this time in a flying bed suspended over the arena showing off a more delicate and romantic and almost vulnerable side.

She brought back the heat with “Just Like Fire” and then literally got the entire audience stomping during “I Am Here” delivering this powerful gospel-like soul clenching tune that as she put it “Took us all To Church.”

She ended the show with “Blow Me One Last Kiss” then came back with even higher notes again, flying all over the arena singing “So What” and then gifted us one more encore with a powerful performance of “Glitter In The Air” closing the show on an intimate note.

The combination of confetti, acrobatics, pyrotechnics, an Inflatable Eminem and a setlist that is a masterfully planned journey through her career is sure to render this show an unforgettable experience for all and a sure candidate in my eyes for concert of the year.
