The Go Go's Take over San Diego
The Go Go's
June 29th
Humphrey's Concerts By The Bay
I can't even begin to explain how excited I was for this show. Never in my life I would have ever thought I would get to see the Go Go's perform....and to get a chance to photograph them was beyond my wildest dreams. I had a few shaky hands moments where I just caught myself wide eyed starstruck almost paralyzed lost in the moment...
It was truly a moment I will never forget, it meant a lot for me growing up to know that in an otherwise " men's world" where women are told to stay put and know their place, four women could play harder and conquer the charts by creating their own music, playing their own instruments and simplistically put creating their own rules. The band didn't last long so to speak but they made history and their impact at least on me is ever lasting.
Their chemistry on stage was noticeable from the first beat and the crowd was sold. I don't think I ever saw Humphrey's come alive like that before.
It was an unbelievable experience I will cherish forever but I do have to admit it is also kind of a melancholy one. I am not ready for a farewell tour, It was phenomenal to see their hits performed live but I want more. I want to see how their career picks up. I want to see them as adults creating new music that was influenced by their growth over the past decades... I know I know it is probably something that will never happen but i feel like someone stole the book right at a cliffhanger and turned off the lights. . . also Gina Schock was sadly missing due to medical issues ... so I don't know can I get a do over ( Wink Wink) ....
Bottom line the show was amazing, I am now home with no voice, a shirt soaked in wine ( dancing while drinking is a talent I obviously do not have) , my legs hurt.... and I just can't let go of the Go Go's.
Check out my photos from the show below....If you were at the show leave me a note and let me know what you thought of the night.
